As a manufacturer of business-to-business security cameras, IC Realtime is committed to providing superior security products and outstanding customer service. A wide range of security markets are served by IC Realtime, including residential, commercial, government, and military security.
Customer service, quality, and product education are essential aspects of a brand message. In collaboration with different departments within the company, it’s easy to design marketing, sales, tech, and service materials that are consistent and impactful.
It is critical that the ICR brand maintains a clean, modern aesthetic that reflects the advanced technologies in its surveillance offerings in order to provide world-class customer service.
I was the company's only designer for a long time, which allowed me to maintain a consistent design language throughout all materials. From sales materials to educational content for support. The team has grown since I joined and my role has shifted to mentorship. Now I help new designers develop their skills and create on-brand content.

One of my major projects at IC Realtime was the development of a responsive application using the latest UI/UX design principles. I led a team of junior designers to prototype wireframes, design prototypes, and create live landing pages based on research data. Through rigorous A/B testing, we were able to produce click-converting designs for emails and webpages.
When I first joined IC Realtime, the marketing department had limited resources. I stepped up to create and test landing pages as an impromptu web developer. With my knowledge of HTML & CSS, Google Tag Manager, and social media tracking pixels, I wireframed, prototyped, and built each landing page. As a result of the analytical tracking data, pages were A/B tested to optimize their performance.
My first responsibility as the company's sole designer was to work with every department to fulfill their design needs. I was responsible for email marketing, social media, print catalogs, flyers, brochures, presentations, educational videos and product packaging. I now have to train new designers to match the existing design language as the lead designer.
I've had the pleasure to work with Michael throughout the last four years as I have moved through departments. When I was leading tech support, we worked together on educational materials that would allow my team to more effectively help users calling in for help. We also built presentation decks together for our semi-annual tech summits. Then in the past two years, I moved to a new position in sales for business development. Again, Michael was instrumental in helping me create content that not only makes my life easier, but also enables sales to push more volume.
I learned one of the most basic rules for a productive workplace: accept that you need assistance and ask for it. In my case, while working at IC Realtime in the first few years, there were no other designers to ask for help. However, there were sales reps, support technicians, and product managers who would offer key information that greatly helped deliver solid & compelling work.
In addition to getting help, I've learned that working in a team environment fosters better problem-solving, enables innovation, and enhances personal growth.
One of the things I love most about being a designer is that I get to solve problems. My favorite part about design is listening to people and trying to understand what they need. I have been reminded time and again how critical it is to listen attentively to what a project needs before beginning.
